Get those screenshots off of your Apple Photos camera roll.

We all take them! Scrolling through social media we see an image, a post, an idea, a recipe, a do-it-yourself project, something that will make our sister laugh. So we hold those two buttons and "SNAP" we have {another} screenshot. Then it disappears into our camera roll.

And then you forget it's there.....

One day - BOOM! - you have 3,519 screenshots in your Photos library and panic.

THAT IS TOO MANY! {Actually, that may be another blog post.....}

So now what? Do you all spend evening going through your screenshot folder/album and sorting (because admit it, there is probably a really good recipe that you don't want to lose or a screenshot of that Snapchat photo that you NEED)?

Or do you just tap "Library" and push it back out of your mind?

Or maybe you just take a chance and delete the whole collection of screenshots [GULP].

The reality is that you will have to deal with them. But let's put it in perspective. It's not an emergency.

Tomorrow won't be affected and you don't need to take a day off to deal with the screenshots.

You can save it for that day when you {insert the event that means you will have to sit ALL DAY}.

But, next time, as you move forward with your screenshot drama and press those buttons, you can make better choices.

Ask yourself .........

and since the answer is "yes" decide the category that this beauty of a screenshot belongs in:

You make your own folders that match the categories that make sense to your screenshot habits.

notes app icon

Here is your new screenshot "flow:"

  1. take the screenshot

  2. quickly tap on the screenshot

  3. find and tap the share arrow in the top corner

  4. locate and tap the notes app icon

  5. choose where to save New Note

  6. SAVE TO: tap and choose the FOLDER where you want to put the screenshot - don't sweat a caption because you can use the AI search box at the top and find what you are looking for with a keyword.

  7. now you are looking at the screenshot you no longer need, so tap DONE in the top left corner and choose DELETE SCREENSHOT - WHEW! You did it!

Now you have 29 days to rescue the screenshot from the Photos recycle bin. (Yeah, right. You won't be doing that.)

You may have traded one problem for another, but your Camera Roll with thank you. Way less clutter to scroll through to find the photo you really want. The one that is connected to you legacy, to your story.

***This advice is not meant to be substitute for a real Google search into how to put a photo into a note. It is simply me trying to get started deleting or moving 4,101 screenshots. {Sigh.}
